Introduction of UOWD

UOWD was established in the United Arab Emirates in 1993 by one of the world's top ranking universities, the University of Wollongong in Australia. Originally known as the Institute for Australian Studies, UOWD is a vibrant, dynamic and diverse institution, retaining a strong Australian heritage. Over the past 23 years we have established an outstanding record for educating highly employable graduates and gained an international reputation for the quality of our educational practices.

Withover 4,400 students from over 117 countries being taught by academics from more than 40 countries, UOWD offers the best traditions of western education in a truly multicultural learning environment.

UOWD’s campus is at the heart of Dubai’s training hub, Knowledge Village. The Knowledge Village development offers easy public transport links from the Dubai Internet City metro station, as well as a range of food and shopping outlets and onsite service providers.

Block seven of Knowledge Village hosts a Food Court, providing a wide range of affordable dining options for students on campus. An ATM is also available in this block.

Block six, adjacent to the Food Court, houses a convenience store, pharmacy, printing services centre, travel agency, car rental office, stationery shop and beauty salon. There are also outlets of the Cafe Ole shop within UOWD buildings.

Knowledge Village is in close proximity to Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City and Tecom, which also offer a range of dining, shopping and service options.

Paid car parking facilities are available and taxis are easily accessible in and around Knowledge Village. The nearest metro station – Dubai Internet City – is approximately 10 minutes’ walk from the campus and the Roads and Transport Authority run a clean, safe and inexpensive bus service that links Knowledge Village to the rest of the city.
